I turned through 270 degrees after touching a mark — have I taken my penalty?
Not unless your turn included both a tack and a gybe. Rule 44.2 defines the One-Turn Penalty as one turn in the same direction that includes one tack and one gybe — turning up through head-to-wind alone is only half the manoeuvre. If your boom never crossed downwind, you haven't completed the penalty and you're still liable for disqualification. Count the booms: two crossings means you're clean.
